Soul Food Cypher utilizes the power of speech to transform the lives of individuals and their communities, and is organization that showcases the positive aspects of rap through cypher events, workshops and community outreach.

At its core, the cypher is a community—a place where lyricists, under the guidance of meter and rhyme, share stories, exchange knowledge and speak freely. But in a larger sense, the cypher represents the community—its successes, challenges, values and aspirations—and the participating lyricists are the conduits by which the state of the community is expressed and offered for public discourse.
