Recently I moderated an important discussion at SCADShow about photographer Thomas Askew that highlighted Atlanta history, Black identity and reframing narratives related to cultural memory. Esteemed photographer historian Dr. Deborah Willis, Oakland Cemetery’s Marketing & PR Manager Pam Henman, and Curator Dr. Pellom McDanels from Emory University’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library joined me in the dialogue. Atlanta Celebrates Photography and ArtsATL co-presented the event, which complemented a recent article I wrote about Askew for ArtsATL. It was an amazing moment.
I’ll have some audio from the dialogue up soon!
